8 biggest movies of 2021
2020 saw an erratic movie release schedule. However, 2021 looks a bit better. The number of movies slated to release this year is quite exciting. It is mostly going to be a year of new stories in older franchises. Then there are exciting sequels and some brand new films too. Here is the list of some of the biggest movies coming in 2021.
- No Time to Die
The 25th film in the James Bond franchise will see Daniel Craig on his last tour as the legendary spy. Bond has retired to Jamaica. His retirement is cut short when a friend comes to seek his help. 007’s new mission is to save a kidnapped scientist. But first, he has to fight off a mysterious villain, who is masked and armed with deadly tech. - A Quiet Place Part II
Although his character died in the first film, John Krasinski is back as the director for the sequel. The plot follows the Abbott family as they stay silent and try to evade dangerous monsters that turned their world upside down in the first film. According to the first teaser, the film has a few flashbacks, possibly explaining the beginning of the monster invasion. - Black Widow
After years, Marvel is finally giving us a standalone Black Widow movie. This film is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Although not an origin story, this new film will have Natasha Romanoff confronting her past life as the deadly Russian spy, Black Widow. Along with Scarlett Johansson, the movie also stars David Harbour, Florence Pugh and O-T Fagbenle. - Godzilla vs. Kong
In one of the most exciting crossover sequels, Godzilla vs. Kong will see the legendary monsters have a massive fight off. This film follows the events of the films “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and “Kong: Skull Island”. As Godzilla and Kong get into an epic battle of the ages, humanity tries to save itself while wiping out both the monsters. - Fast & Furious 9
One of the most loved franchises is back with its ninth installment. The plot follows Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, joining forces with his crew and family. Together they battle against Dominic’s estranged brother, Jakob, a deadly assassin and high-performance driver. According to the initial trailers, the movie will also see the return of the fan-favorite character, Han Lue. - Dune
The much-awaited Denis Villeneuve remake of the sci-fi epic is finally here. Based on the book by Frank Herbert, the movie stars Timothée Chalamet as the protagonist Paul Atreides, a young duke. He leads a battle to regain control of Arrakis, a desert planet. The star-studded cast includes Zendaya, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. - Top Gun: Maverick
After years of speculation, the sequel to the blockbuster 1986 film is finally releasing in 2021. Tom Cruise revives his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, one of the Navy’s top aviators. After completing years of service, Maverick is now training a new squad of graduates for a life-threatening mission. At the same time, he needs to confront his past. - The Conjuring: Devil Made Me Do It
The third Conjuring movie has ditched its classic numbered titling. The new movie will have stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the real-life investigators. The plot is based on a real case in which a suspected murderer claimed demonic possession as a defense for his crimes.
